I didn't want to believe that the Mormon church is a cult either until I started doing the research and it meets most of the criteria. Its hard to view it as a cult since it doesn't look as terrible as the extreme cults seen in the news. I googled "cult criteria" and found this article and, again, the Mormon church meets the criteria of a cult.
