As an Air Force Materiel Command base, Eglin is home to the 96th Test Wing which serves as the test center for USAF armament, navigation and guidance systems., The West Gate is just off FL Highway 85 (called Eglin Parkway) and is closest to the city of Fort Walton Beach. The East Gate is on the Valparaiso side, off FL 397. The North and ACC Gates are only open two hours in the morning: 0600-0800, and two hours in the evening: 1600-1800, M-F.
