Your best bet is to grab a set of pickaxes and a pile of food and vein mine the deep slate. At least until you get enough resources to build a chunk destroyer.

Better idea, use the ore purifier from elemental craft, then enrich the pure ore chunks and then make an allthemodium pick using silent gear. Then mine a piece of vibraniun. Pretty easy to find.
