Now the bike runs rough. IT seems that the orignal owner had cobra pipes put on the bike and he basically left only 1 inch of the baffle in there ( pulled it today and measured it ).

It goes like this, the battery has sufficient charge to energize the starter solenoid, but once the solenoid contacts close and power is supplied to the motor, voltage to the solenoid drops and the contacts open, removing power to the motor.Bike is a 2003 vulcan, 800 classic. Bike would stop running while cruising along about 70, and would not start again for a few minutes. Everytime it did this was about 7-10 miles after filling up with gas, could go another mile or two, and it would stop again, and again for a third time.Check your intake manifold for cracks.If you see any,while its running,spray some WD40 on the manifold,and see if the engine speeds up.If it does you have a vacume leak,and it needs to be replaced.Before you do that,make sure the clamps are real tight,as it sounds like you have a leak.
