How to create an avatar in teams

Turns out I was using an older version of Teams that I hadn't logged out from and logged in the new one yet (it was installed but I hadn't logged into the new one yet). Sign out of teams from the background as well and then start it from the latest installed version. I could see the effects and avatars in the meeting then. Thanks!
