Tbi to carb swap

Feb 21, 2021 · I have 350 TBI, it's registered as an 86 but I was told it was an 89, the TBI been giving all kinds of trouble and the PO had said he picked with it and stuff. So I have an 83 with a 350 also with a carb. So my intention was to swap the intake and carb onto the TBI and make it all mechanical.

A TBI Tb is around 450 CFM. the biggest issues with a carb eng is people put WAYYYYYYY too big of a carb on there eng. they think bigger is better. I hate my 78 Camaro due to it is carb. HOPEFULLY one day it will be EFI. EFI is the way to go.I did a similar swap but swapped a tbi motor with 518/241 into an 83 rc , all I really had to do was get a fuel pump eccentric, manifold, and carb. I went with a 650 edelbrock, with an air gap intake. You will need a non-computer controlled transmission (1987 to 1991) or a aftermarket trans controller, TCI makes one.
